Bright Club Oxford is back on 20 April

Become a Stand-Up Comedian for the Night!

Can you turn your work into a short stand-up comedy set? We're looking for researchers, academics and experts from all disciplines (science, arts, humanities - the more the  merrier!) to take to the stage and show us the funny side of their work.

No experience is necessary. There's a free training session, and we offer an additional 'set surgery' workshop where you can try out your ideas and get some friendly feedback a couple of weeks before the show.

We run 4 shows a year. Our next training session will be in March for our show on 20 April.

Bright Club Oxford stand-up comedy taster workshop!

Fancy performing at Bright Club? Would you like to see how funny and creative you can be? Come along to our friendly and informal workshop to unlock your comic potential. You will learn:-

- Basic stage craft

- How to appear confident - and why being funny is a confidence trick

- Basic joke writing techniques

- How to use status on stage

- How to prepare a short stand-up set and try it out

A workshop like this can help with general presentation skills and could be your first step on the way to becoming a Bright Club performer. Above all, it will be a lot of fun!

When: Monday 22nd June (NB change of date!), 7-9pm

Bright Club Line-Up Announced!

Ella Al-Shamahi on trying to find Palaeolithic caves in unstable territories. 
Nick Neasom talks about talking, and why we talk the way that we talk. 
Gary Browning with observations on death and the dead.

Our headliner is Steve Day - a truly unique comedian - warm, witty and engaging whilst dealing with the dilemmas of being a deaf man in a hearing world:-
